Acadia NP to Niagara Falls

Wow, we traveled 1,553 miles in the past 8 days! We visited Acadia Nat’l Park in Maine and tried their lobster (which is better than Nova Scotia’s) and drove to New York to meet Chris at the Buffalo Niagara Airport.

We saw both sides of Niagara Falls, the Aquarium, took the Maid of the Mist boat to the edge of the falls (even got a shot of the rainbow), the Whirlpool & Aircar (just looked) and Niagara Falls State Park Discovery Center. We went to Seneca Niagara Casino for a scrumptious lunch buffet, and then tried our luck at the slots. The Casino got a $20 donation from Judi, none from Pat & had to fork over $47 to Chris. Don't you know, he loved that!!

It rained on July 4th, and although they still had the fireworks, the weather made it difficult to photograph them. We got some spectacular shots of the colored light display on the falls.

On the Canadian side, we went to the Butterfly Gardens (this butterfly liked Chris' red shirt and took a ride) and the Chocolate Factory; then drove thru a quaint little town called Niagara-on-the-Lake and picnicked on the shores of Lake Ontario. Later, we stayed in Lockport and went on the Erie Canal Locks Cave & Boat Tour. The stories behind tours like these are fascinating.

We couldn't talk Chris into quitting his job and coming with us, so after we took him back to the airport, we drove across the lower part of Ontario from Niagara Falls to Port Huron, Michigan. We’re on our way to Mackinac Island, Michigan, in a few days to see the filming location of the movie, “Somewhere in Time”.

Sure seems like the trip is going well! This is such a great idea to have the pictures and running commentary! By the way my Mom is in Michigan this week and headed to Mackinac island at some point so "be on the lookout!"

Sending you love from Atlanta,

The Whites

You girls are having just TOO much fun...especially without me along! LOL I wish I could have met you in Niagara, darn it! I'm so glad Chris was able to make it and you all had a wonderful time. I'm sure he'll have a million pictures to show us, too!

I'm sorry, but the Michigan mosquito thing...still funny! :-)

Love you two!
